Tobias Harris: I'm An All-Star

Mar 17, 2021 1:36 PM

Tobias Harris scored 30 points in a comeback win by the Philadelphia 76ers over the New York Knicks without Joel Embiid.

Harris was one of the All-Star omissions and he made a point of asserting he believed he should have been included.

"I'm an All-Star!" Harris was caught saying by the NBC Sports Philadelphia cameras.

"That's for sure what I said," Harris said postgame. "For me, that's just reaffirming that to myself. I know the fans know that, but reaffirming that to them and to myself, especially making those big plays. I try to just find motivation in different areas. That's one of them."

"He was pissed off,"  Ben Simmons said, referencing Harris and his omission from the All-Star team. "He should have been an All-Star. You got a few guys -- myself and Joel on this team, and then Tobias, I think people just take for granted how talented he is. If he was on the team I don't want to take anything away from any other All-Stars but if he was on a different team, he's going to be putting up those numbers. It's clear he's able to do that. But obviously it went the way it went, but he is, no matter what. To us, he's an All-Star, he's one of those guys who can get it done, go get a bucket. He's a big time player."

NBA All-Star Game Has Record Low Viewership But Better Than Anticipated Rating

Mar 9, 2021 1:02 PM

The 2021 NBA All-Star Game was down 24 percent in ratings and 18 percent in viewership from 2020, making it the lowest rated and least-watched edition of the game.

But the All-Star Game ranks as the highest rated NBA telecast of the season and ranks as the most-watched non-football sportscast since the World Series.

The Finals, by comparison, were down 49 percent year-over-year.

The All-Star Game was the highest rated telecast of the night for adults between 18 and 34, even beating Oprah Winfrey's interview of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on CBS.

Mar 9, 2021 2:14 AM

No players, coaches, or officials tested positive for COVID-19 over All-Star weekend.

"All players, coaches, and game officials were tested for COVID three times after arriving in Atlanta, including a final test immediately prior to last night's All-Star Game. Each of those tests returned a negative result, confirming no one on the court for last night's events was infected," released the league in a statement.

Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons left Atlanta early due to contact tracing.

Both Embiid and Simmons have continued to return negative tests, though it is unclear whether they will be available for the Sixers' game on Thursday.
