Merry Christmas, Raptors Fans
The Raptors might not be playing good basketball right now, but there are plenty of things for Toronto fans to be thankful for this holiday season.
A Melo Behind The Superstars
Carmelo Anthony has never been one of the league's most efficient offensive players.

Monday
New York @ Cleveland: It’s one of those games that is perfect to have on in the background, especially on an awesome night of basketball like Monday. Will LeBron James get a triple double? Which Knick will score 30+? These are important questions.
Dallas @ Charlotte: As the Bobcats attempt to move back into the top eight seeds in the East, they need to win home games against good opponents. Dallas has been playing well of late and got a nice little win on Friday against Atlanta thanks to Jason Kidd’s smart play. Caron Butler and Shawn Marion will provide a big challenge for Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace, but they should be up to the task.
Portland @ Memphis: Still not exactly sure how the Blazers are doing it, and I’m sure Memphis wishes they knew too. Nicolas Batum had a huge Saturday and will be looking to replicate that kind of production against Rudy Gay and Memphis. The X-factors here should be the shooting guards, though Marc Gasol could have a nice night.
Toronto @ Houston: The NNGW darlings at the beginning of the season have lost a little bit of their shine, yet this one is a game worth watching. It will be compelling to see how the Rockets look with Kevin Martin getting more assimilated and Toronto has their own issues to tackle. Expect Jarrett Jack to have another big game coming off of a nice one against the Cavs.
Denver @ Phoenix: As the West continues to shuffle and re-shuffle, these two teams have to win to keep pace. Chauncey Billups has been lighting it up the last few games and Steve Nash is a guy who can make his opponent look good on offense. The benches could play a major role in this one as well.
Tuesday
Golden State @ Miami: I try to pick one perversely entertaining game a week, and this one is it. Can the Tito Jackson’s get a home win against a non-playoff team? Plus, it could loom large in Don Nelson’s quest to get the coaching wins record this season.
Wednesday
Charlotte @ Boston: After startling losses to the Cavs and Nets (!), Boston needs a good game against a legit opponent to get their momentum back. The Celtics’ bigs should have an opportunity to get points here and I’m interested to see how the Bobcats’ guards try to handle Rajon Rondo. Both teams need this one badly.
Oklahoma City @ Denver [Game of the Week]: At the worst, this one should be an amazingly entertaining game. Kevin Durant vs. Carmelo Anthony is always a sight to see, and Billups vs. Russell Westbrook is a marquee matchup as well. If the Zombie Sonics can contain the Nuggets’ big men, a major road win is possible.
Saturday
Golden State @ Charlotte: It’s Stephen Jackson against the Warriors, which makes it one to watch this weekend. Beyond that dynamic, this one could be a pretty fun game if Monta Ellis is back even though Charlotte has been a very good home team this season.
San Antonio @ Memphis: It seems like every game is both a big one and a challenge for both these teams. The Spurs are driving hard to keep their spot in the playoffs while Memphis is digging to take one of them. It will be interesting to see how San Antonio chooses to handle the Grizzlies’ big men, but any time with Tim Duncan on Zach Randolph should be very entertaining.
Sunday
Oklahoma City @ Sacramento: A nice little palate-cleanser at the end of the weekend. Durant and Tyreke Evans likely won’t spend any time guarding each other yet should dominate the scoring. Both teams have to use more varied big man rotations thanks to the talent they have. If a guy like Hawes, Ibaka, or Landry can have a big game, it could decide this one. |
